Special Edition: Vans Warped Tour 2025| Volume 55

Q: What does it mean to you to be part of the Warped Warmup Tour / Vans Warped Tour, and what was your favorite part?

Liza Light -
This was so much fun! It felt so special to be a part of the run and to get to meet so many powerful and talented women. It’s very inspiring to get to play with each and every one of them every night!”

Holly West -
It meant a lot to be part of the house band, it’s always fun to do a deep dive into a genre you don’t normally play. I always enjoy the challenge. My favorite part was being with my female music community. I love the friends I’ve made with Gritty and to play music with them is the best!”

Alex Windsor -
As someone who grew up attending (and dreaming of performing at) Warped Tour, to say this was a bucket list moment would be an understatement. To get to be part of something that was so pivotal in shaping who I am today is a dream come true. My favorite part was getting to be the Music Director and working with the other musicians to bring these songs to life in a way that only Gritty in Pink could pull off!”

Shiragirl -”It definitely feels like a circle moment. Having started my journey to empower women in music on the vans warped tour, it’s incredible to return with the gritty gang, while  also building something new with our own tour and all-girl jams. So proud of the house band for coming together to make it all happen save bringing the gritty vibes across the country.”

Sabrina Winter -
“Playing the Vans Warped Tour has always been on my bucket list and Gritty made that dream come true! My favorite part was rocking out with all women in the band, that doesn’t happen very often.”

Vashonda Sherra - “Being a part of the Vans Warped Warmup Tour means literally being a part of making history with the All GRL Jam; the fruition of a dream made real stemming from the foundation of Shira Yevin crashing Vans Warped Tour 20 years ago. This is a testament to a full circle moment of representation for women and how important Her-story is being told and remembered. My favorite part was simply sharing the stage with a diverse group of talented bad ass women, basking in the vibes of each city. Dancing with my Gritty girls to Avril Lavigne while she performed night 2 of the festival is a memory I’ll hold dear forever!”

Meghan Storm -
“In 2005, when I was very young,  I spent the summer on Warped Tour helping my bestie pull off something that had never been done before, an all female stage on Warped Tour, the biggest venue for alternative music in our country. It was really tough but we succeeded, and that stage hosted over 300 female artists. If you look around there are many more women in bands and on main stages than there were 20 years ago when Shira started what would become a lifelong mission. You can see that her mission has made a difference in the world and in music. Women are more represented and safer than they were, although there is still more to do.Being able to come back as one of the members that was there at the beginning of this movement, and to see how much it resonates with young women and girls today was a humbling and profound experience.  Today as a mom of 3 girls, still active in music, I realized how important this mission still is. Being together on stage with my favorite people was the best part of tour!”

Al Rosenberg -
“I feel very honored to have been included in the East Coast warm-up dates. Getting to play those fun songs, some of which I've loved for a long time, with so many amazingly talented women was truly inspiring.  There really is no better feeling than watching people lose themselves in the music you're performing, and getting to do that with a group of people who are positive, affirming, and working so hard to build community was very special.  Having the opportunity to play the actual Warped Tour was truly a childhood dream come true.  My favorite part (aside from the shows) was spending the day setting up the Gritty tent with everyone, helping it come together, and getting to watch people experience and enjoy it.”

Raine Palladino -
“For me, it symbolized how much ground women in music still have to gain. The shiragirl stage made its Warped Tour debut 20 years ago, yet the industry remains a deeply gate-kept sausage party. It showed me that the fight will not be won in a single generation. Our mission for equal representation must be passed down to our daughters, nieces, and granddaughters. My favorite part of the tour was running the only tent dedicated to empowering girls and women. It was heartwarming to see mothers bring in their daughters to meet the musicians, and for those girls to realize that they too can be a guitarist, a drummer, a DJ, etc. They can be cool, smart, and in charge of their own destiny. When we were kids, a space like this didn't exist. I can't wait to see how far the next generation takes this movement!”
